A dish that I had the chance to share with the French business community in Paris looking to invest in Malaysian made products in an event organised by the @embassyofmalaysiaparis

Umai – Sarawak’s Refreshing version of the Ceviche! 🍋🐟
Umai, a beloved Sarawakian delicacy, is as vibrant as it is simple to make! Fresh fish, tangy lime, and a burst of local flavors come together in this iconic dish. Perfect for a light meal or appetizer. Here’s the recipe so you can make it too! ⬇️✨

10 medium shrimp (removed skin, washed and cut small2)
3 cloves of shallots*
2 cloves of garlic*
1 inch ginger*
1 red chilli*
1 large onion (shown)
1 bird’s eye chilli (sliced)
1 tablespoon peanuts
1 lemon
1 lime
5 calamansi limes
Olive oil
a little salt and sugar
for decoration:
coriander leaves, lemongrass slices.

Salad of choice for serving

1. Marinate prawns with the lime and salt in a container/bowl and leave for a while.
2. Pound all ingredients marked *.
3. Add the ingredients * and all the remaining ingredients to the prawn marinade.Mx well.
4. Leave to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (the prawns will cook in the marination itself)
