Why not make your own homemade hot cross buns? If you want to go totally plant based, replace butter for nut butters of your choice and milk with almond milk. And replace egg wash with a brush of almond milk!

Ingredients
Ingredients A
3teaspoonsinstant yeast
1/2cup(110g) caster sugar
1 1/2cups(375ml) milk, warm
Ingredients B
50g/ 3.5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1egg
Ingredients C
4 1/4cups(640g) bread flour
2tspcinnamon powder
1/2tspsalt
Ingredients D
1cupraisins
Zest of 2 oranges
Ingredients E
1/2cup(75g) flour
5tbspwater
Egg wash
1egg yolk
1tbspwater
Directions
In a big bowl, mix all ingredients A together and set aside for 10 mins.
In a mixer with a hook attachment, mix together ingredients C. Add in ingredients A and B. Mix till a soft dough is formed. Continue kneading for 6-8 mins till elastic.
Leave to rise covered with a damp cloth for 45 mins. Punch down and divide into 12 pieces. Form balls and place in a baking tray. Leave to rise for another 30 mins.
Mix Ingredients E together. Pipe paste across the risen dough.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 15-20 mins. Brush egg wash and return to bake another 5 mins or till golden brown.
