Ingredients
1pumpkin ( steamed to get 400g pumpkin puree)
1egg
5gyeast
20gwhite sugar
10ggula melaka
400gall purpose flour + 1 tsp salt
200mlwarm water
Chinese red dates, pitted and sliced
Vegetable oil and sesame seeds
Directions
Remove skin and seeds of the pumpkin and steam. Mash to get 400g of puree.
Once puree is cooled. Mix with egg yeast and gula melaka.
Add in flour and water and mix till you get a thick paste. Leave to rise for 45 mins.
Grease a 9 inch round cake pan and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Pour the deflated bread mixture into the pan and spread a thin layer of oil on the surface. Lleave to rise till its double its original size, around 30 mins.
Arrange sliced dates and sprinkle some sesame seeds on the surface of the cake and place in a steamer. Cover and bring water to a boil and steam for 30 mins. Turn off the heat and leave for another 5 mins.
